5 WAYS TO DRIVE TRAFFIC TO A VIDEO

01 JANUARY 2021

You have got an awesome video that you want to share with the world, but it is not getting the interest? Do you feel that you deserve more? Here are our  handy tips to help drive traffic to your video.

1. THE THUMBNAIL

The most important factor in making people click and watch your video is the thumbnail.

What is a thumbnail?

The thumbnail is a little image which encourages user to watch your video. It is your shop window.

Many YouTubers use “click baiting”. A strategy, where a sometimes wrong and misleading image appears, gets your attention and make you click. The image may differ from video content they provide. It is not advised to do this, because this will lead to high bounce rate and your channel is more likely to encounter visitors who will not watch or engage with another content you produce.

Thinking carefully about what the video is, and what value it provides the viewer is a good place to start!

2. THE DURATION

Our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter.

Think about video which works right for your target audience. For some audiences 30 seconds video is too much, while others could spend 10 minutes watching the same video. Make sure you know the basics of video length on different social media channels, then your video will perform well. To increase traffic on your video, create visual content which gives value to the user in a short period of time, and the rest should follow.

3. CONTENT

Probably most important element is content. “Content is King”, as they say on YouTube, content is everything. If you provide great content within your video, your viewers will share it. If your video gets demolished with unpleasant comments, then it will be less likely to be shared.

4. GOOD DESCRIPTIONS

Hosting videos on YouTube, Instagram, or your own website requires a good text description. A good and well written description encourages traffic. Having longer text paragraphs is very beneficial for SEO, this helps new users to reach out your content.

5. VIDEO KEYWORDS

Finally the keywords. Keywords are search words that user is looking for. In order to discover your channel, make sure you use as many keywords related to the content you produce. Also, it will help search engines to determine what your content is about and potentially show it to bigger audience.

Channels like Facebook and Youtube, have video tags. These tags work like keywords. Even though they are not shown in the description, they help people to discover your video content. Make them relevant and think about what people search for.
